Business Fellowships

Business fellowships are organised for Parliament members for in-depth introduction to a particular industry. The topics of the study programme are identified based on an assessment of Members’ needs. The national scheme designs a study programme involving national and transnational companies operating in Armenia, relevant experts and business associations. The fellowships are meant to serve as a catalyst for initiating debate on sound economic policies.

Fellowship to a IT sector
Based on the request of Mr Sahavarsh Kocharyan – an MP from opposition we have held a company attachment with HPLA LLC and SYNOPSYS companies, the largest in Armenia employing more then 400 people in total. During the attachment many interesting information has been gathered by MP and by us, especially in the filed of regulating the IT sector, which is very fast growing in Armenia. Unfortunately most of the information was confidential, therefore I can not state much about it, but in overall, we have come up with an initiative from the company to plan a business attachment for several MPs, to give them a clue on what is going on in IT sector in Armenia and make MPs aware of the successes they have and the obstacles existing in overall sector and in tax code in particular, connected with the export and VAT losses. A for the moment Mr. Kocharian has expressed the readiness to come up with the legislative initiative in the Parliament.
