Purpose: The Industry and National Assembly for Wales Association is a neutral, non- lobbying educational scheme that aims to promote better understanding between the World of Business and the National Assembly for Wales.

Industrial Study Programmes provide Assembly Members with an opportunity to study business at first hand through interaction with Member Companies.

The aim of the Programme is to provide Assembly Members with an intensive “hands on” experience of Industry. Assembly Members gain valuable insight into how industry operates, how it is affected by legislation, its economic and social environment, and how decisions are taken and communicated, while providing an opportunity for the Business Sector to gain greater understanding of The National Assembly for Wales, and its interaction with the Institutions of the European Union.

By promoting communication and fostering greater mutual understanding, inaw enables new ideas to be generated and shared, contributing towards more informed judgements in policy making, providing for better-informed regulation and legislation, and sustainable economic growth for Wales.

Study Programmes: Fellowship study programmes may either comprise of a ‘broader’ 7-10 day study course arranged with one Member Company, or alternatively Assembly Members may follow a shorter 2 day programme based on a specific theme, attached to a number of different member companies, so that a total of 8 study days are achieved. Programmes may be arranged over a period of approximately 12 months.

AM Participation: During its year of inception, 2002-2003, 5 Assembly Members took part in the Scheme.

Member Companies: Airbus, Anglesey Aluminium Metal Ltd , Biffa Waste Services Ltd, ChevronTexaco, UPM-Kymmene (UK) Ltd.
