| Purpose: | Industry and Parliament Scheme
embedded in the "Vlaams Economisch Verbond (VEV), the representative
business organisation of Flanders, the Dutch-speaking northern part of
Belgium, generating more than 60 percent of the Belgian GDP.
The VEV is an independent, private, non-profit organisation for free enterprise, progress and well-being in Flanders. Therefore, the VEV is co-operating closely with the Flemish Government and the Flemish social partners. |
| Activities of the Scheme: |
Five-day attachments of MPs,
Senators, MEPs to companies. Every year the parliamentarian has the
possibility to choose an attachment in a different company.
Attachments take place during parliamentary recess.
Business workshops for MPs: three-day attachments to a company on topics the MP is specifically interested in and that correspond with his parliamentary work. Weekly company visits for MPs: a number of parliamentarians and an equal number of business people of other companies are invited to visit an enterprise. The political group can be composed of MPs of the same party or of different parties but of the same constituency or of members of the same legislative committee. A presentation of the host company is followed by a tour and a working lunch. During lunch there is a structured discussion on social-economic issues of mutual concern. Thematic working lunches of business leaders with MPs, member of the legal committees, of interest to the business community. Half-a-day workshops for ministers: private meeting of a minister with business leaders on topics the policy maker is interested to test policy projects or ideas with the business community before outlining policy. Visits to the Parliament (Flemish, federal, European) for businessmen. Parliamentary three-day workshops for businessmen. Two-day seminar on how the Flemish Government and the Flemish Parliament are working, followed by a one-day attachment to an MP. |

ONDERNEMER EN POLITIEK
Een internationaal netwerk voor een betere dialoog tussen het bedrijfsleven, de politieke wereld en de administratie
Voor onze democratie is het belangrijk dat de wetgever een brede en diepgaande kennis heeft over de verschillende domeinen waarover hij wetten dient te maken.
Het bedrijfsleven, dat een essentiële rol speelt bij het tot stand komen van welvaart en welzijin, dient op zijn beurt een grondige kennis te hebben over de werking van de politiek en de administratie.
Thans heeft men in meer dan 10 landen initiatieven ontwikkeld om tot een betere onderlinge verstandhouding te komen tussen het bedrijfsleven, de politieke wereld en de administratie. Er groeide tussen de organisaties, die daar mee bezig zijn, een informeel netwerk met de bedoeling uit elkaars werk te leren en informatie uit te wisselen.
De programma's die onder de hoofding "Ondernemer, Politiek en Administratie" opereren, werken allen volgens volgende principes:
- De programma’s zijn onafhandelijk en a-politiek.
- Het enige doel van de programma’s is informeren en kennis bijbrengen,
- De deelnemers verbinden er zich toe de overeengekomen tijd aan de programma’s te besteden.
- De politici engageren zich om geen partijpolitieke standpunten tijdens de programma’s in de ondernemingen te verkondigen.
- De ondernemers engageren zich op hun beurt om de politici niet te gebruiken voor lobbying.
- De ondernemers staan open voor alle mogelijke vragen van de deelnemers, die de verkregen informatie als confidentieel behandelen.
- leder organisatie die deel uitmaakt van het internationale netwerk is verantwoordelijk voor haar programma en staat borg voor de kwaliteit.
- De deelnemers aan het programma ontvangen daarvoor geen enkele financiële vergoeding. De bedrijven dragen de kosten verbonden aan de programma’s.
- leder programma tracht de onderlinge contacten tussen bedrijfsleiders, politici en ambtenaren te vermenigvuldigen.
- De organisaties, die lid zijn van het internationale netwerk, ontmoeten elkaar officieel minstens 1 keer om de twee jaar.
