Emerging Democracies Programme

Goal: To foster economic development and good governance in emerging democracies through institutionalisation non-corrupt and transparent relationships between legislators and economic operators.
IABP establishes and builds capacity of the national schemes in emerging democracies

  • Contributes by sharing its “international protocol” for transparent and non-corrupt relationship and understanding
  • Facilitates interchanges using resources of the national schemes and other stakeholders
  • Achieves sustainability of the schemes and carries out exit strategy

Project Objectives:

  • to strengthen the representation and oversight capacity of the Parliament of Georgia regarding issues of economic development, including private sector development;
  • to increase parliamentarians’ understanding of increasingly complex issues of business and the economy in order to make the Parliament pro-active with regard to economic, budgetary and fiscal policy making;
  • to improve expertise of the Parliament to support the formulation of transparent and predictable economic policies;
  • to develop a model of a business and parliament scheme transferable to other emerging democracies.
