International Exhibition 5-8 December/Tbilisi/Georgia

On December 5-8 agricultural and food products exhibition “Agro +Food+Drink+Tech ExpoGeorgia 2007” took place in Tbilisi by name. It was organized by Expo Georgia with the support of ministry of agriculture of Georgia and Tbilisi Municipality. More than 200 companies from different countries participated in the exhibition.

The international Association of Business and Parliament - Georgia was invited to the exhibition to present it’s project: “Product from the Conflict Zone”. With the support of  IABP-Georgia entrepreneurs from conflict regions: Tskhinvali Region and Abkhazia participated in the exhibition.
The objectives of   IABP was to  support entrepreneurs from conflict zones in promoting their products and involving them in trade processes as well as helping them in finding useful links with potential investors and broadening their network.

The outcomes of the Exhibition:

An entrepreneur from Gali region was offered a deal for selling more than two tones of honey. It was agreed between them to continue future partnership.

After negotiations with the Temporary Administration of South Osetia, Polish investors bought apple calvados as well as 15 tones of apple produced in the Tskhinvali region.

With the support of the IABP, entrepreneurs (ethnic Ossetians) from Tskhinvali region participated in the exhibition.  Their participation itself is a very important matter, as the exhibition appeared to be a platform for sharing their ideas and experience with other business people. Such activities certainly support the idea of the peaceful resolution of the conflicts.

The process itself and outcomes were very interesting and important for entrepreneurs from conflict regions as well as for the IABP. Such practical approach helps us to plan future steps in order to implement the project and support the process of economic reintegration in the conflict regions
