Introducing the first Chief Executive of the Scottish Parliament and Business Exchange
Arthur McIvor has been appointed as the first Chief Executive of the Scottish Parliament and Business Exchange. Now in its seventh year, the Scottish Exchange has been managed by Devin Scobie on an interim basis for the past year. In response to demand from both parliamentary and business sectors for dedicated resources to develop the Exchange in line with the needs of the Scottish economy, the first Chief Executive appointment commenced this month (January).
Reporting to a board of directors representing business and parliamentary sectors, Mr McIvor brings a wealth of experience in both the public and private arena. Having spent over 20 years as a Senior Manager with Royal Mail, Arthur then dedicated over two years as a Director of a corporate events company. When he identified a gap in the market during this time for business relationship management advice, he established his own consultancy, Art McIvor Consulting. His consultancy has gone from strength to strength and brings with him an established corporate network who he will now introduce to the Exchange.
Convenor Lynda Gauld commented "Arthur's past experience is ideally suited to the needs of the Exchange and the Board have very much welcomed his ambitious plans. This is a time of re-evaluation for the Exchange and Arthur's appointment is a significant step to enabling it to grow and develop."
Arthur added “I see the Exchange fundamentally as an educational and communication point for both parliamentary and business sectors to understand each other. This is crucial to ensure the impact of Scottish legislation has a positive effect on our economy. We aim to learn from best practice
globally and ambitiously aim to create new
quality benchmarks for the industry.”
The Scottish Parliament and Business Exchange is currently reviewing their product offering.
Arthur will be welcoming IABP members to the stunning city of Edinburgh in June offering an opportunity to meet him in person and discuss these plans in greater detail.
