Foreign Investors Advisory Council which has been set up by the parliament of Ge orgia with support of IABP acts as a forum for policy dialogue open to all foreign investors in the country with objective to discuss legislative initiatives, oversee the implementation and keep business informed about forthcoming policy and legislation. Ultimate objective of Georgian legislators is to create enabling environment for foreign direct investment by making legislation predictable and regulatory framework free of undue administrative barriers. IABP is willing to use FIAC as a model transferable to other countries of operation if requested by respective Parliament or business members.
Foreign Investors Advisory Council is co-chaired by Mr. Konstantine gabashvili, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee and Mr. Irakli Kovzanadze, Chairman of the Budget and Finance Committee of the Parliament of Georgia. From business side it is co-chaired by David Glendinning, Communications and External Affairs Manager of BP Georgia and Fady Asly, President Emeritus of the American Chamber of Commerce in Georgia. IABP facilitates the work of the FIAC.
The recent meeting took place at: the Business and Economic Centre (BEC) at the Parliament of Georgia at 16:00 on the 7th of March 2007.
| The objective of the meeting was to discuss the business climate for foreign investors in Georgia as well as share ideas on the ways of making FIAC more effective. In result of the meeting legislators agree to review the debatable draft Amendment to the of Law on Securities and discuss with the Committee of Economic Policy and Economic Branches the proposed draft law on bankruptcy. |
